Lucas Martínez Project
Traces of Memory
Traces of Memory is a safe haven for my most precious emotions, preserved against the amnesia that time inevitably brings. It is a collection of melodies that, when played or heard, transport me back to the moments in which they were born—the experiences I lived and the feelings I felt. Much like revisiting a photo album, Traces of Memory becomes my personal sound archive of memories and emotions.
For this album, four highly independent and creative spirits converge in a single quartet. Over the past decade, LM Project has cultivated a distinctive sound, shaped by the diverse musical backgrounds of its members. Their repertoire, primarily composed by Lucas, navigates the space between complexity and lyricism, freedom and interplay.
These four virtuosic musicians have mastered the contemplative beauty of silence, weaving a delicate balance between chaos and serenity. If music is a conversation, they speak with intention—always ready to share a thought or a message, yet knowing perfectly when to remain silent.
The project has received significant recognition, including the Incentive Prize at the Semifinals of Keep An Eye 2017, Finalist at Keep An Eye 2018, Semifinalist at the Dutch Competition 2018, and Finalist at “Joventudes Musicales de España 2018.”
Their performances span the globe, including the Netherlands, Spain, China, the USA, and Mexico. Venues and festivals include Auditori de Barcelona (Spain, 2025), Zinco Jazz Club (Mexico City, 2024), Bimhuis (NL, 2023), JZ Live (Shanghai, 2020), and Chri’s Jazz Café (Philadelphia, 2017).
LM Project’s discography began with their debut album Lights & Shadows (Fresh Sound New Talent, 2018), followed by End of a Cycle (Fresh Sound New Talent, 2020). Their latest work, Traces of Memory, was recorded and released in October 2022 (Seed Music 004), continuing their journey of exploring emotion, memory, and musical interplay.
